Job Summary
Cuts and grinds metal piping to fit various fittings; prep various ship board piping systems for fit-up inspection IAW with MIL-STD 22D; must have an understanding of NAV-SEA references pertaining to ship board piping system; must have the ability to utilize sketches and diagrams to complete piping systems installation onboard ships; must be familiar with the hazards associated with opening tanks, voids, and confined spaces on board ships; performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position; comply with all Health/Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures. Must be located in San Diego County, we are not looking to relocate candidates at this time.
Qualification Standards
Must be familiar with ship board piping systems; must have an understanding of ship board terminology utilizing MIL-SPEC and NAVSEA references; must have the ability to determine different piping systems identification; must have the ability to obtain a silver braze qualification for CuNi (copper-nickel) piping systems onboard ships; basic reading and mathematics is required for fit-up, lay-out, and fabrication of piping systems; minimum five years on the job experience or have served in the military; ability to adhere to company safety procedures, obey safety signs in-shop and onboard ships; must be able to access and move around ship safely; work at heights and in confined spaces.

Lay out work from blueprints
Grind, rip-out, and fit metal piping parts for placement on ships.
Set up tools and equipment at job site.

Lifting/carrying up 50 lbs. on a regular basis; reading and understanding blueprints; maintain safety awareness.
Environmental Factors
Expose to temperatures and ventilation that can cause discomfort; expose to fumes, odors, dust, and gases that could cause harm to the respiratory system; expose to constantly moving machines and mechanical parts; work on scaffolding, high reaching equipment, deck surfaces, and inside ships; work in areas accessed only by portable stairs, ramps, ladders, catwalks, crawl spaces, small hatch openings, and narrow passageways.
